Hannibal Rocks Hannibal MO 1/1/07
We are planning to head down for opening day to public.
http://www.rorp.com/homepage.html
was at werock and rrock competitions at hannibal and projected opening day for hannibal rocks is new years day 2007.
i have pics of hannibal rocks comps here:

hannibal rocks is next to modern campground with go-carts, mini golf, batting cages. in january a local motel might be a better option if staying night. Hannibal was a large town with various parts stores, motels, retaurants, etc. i think hannibal rocks is about 50 miles NW of rockport park.
From ia city hannibal rocks was about 155 miles south on 4lane hwy (except 10 miles almost ready for 4 lanes).

Re: Hannibal Rocks Hannibal MO 1/1/07
nice pics Cory. new place looks a lot like Miobi's land, and like the Badlands in Indiana. kinda nice to have open areas. just tight timber like rorp trails can get crowded, and dusty. shade is nice on hot days though. i think if i go south i'll hit the new hannibal area, vs. goin to Ill. next time out.plus it's a lot closer. Kudos to the owners for buying this place, be nice if gas would go back down to $1.50 per gal., there's a new place in southern missouri i heard about, that's supposed to be darn good wheelin, long trip plus a lot of gas though.

Re: Hannibal Rocks Hannibal MO 1/1/07
cheaper fuel is much appreciated, i drove a ford focus to hannibal comps. it was the only focus at the park, actually one of the few cars at the park, most spectators had trucks/jeeps.
hannibal rocks was set up for comps only. stock mod rigs can run upto 35" & were challenged. a samurai on 33” swampers did well. the spotter can make up for smaller tires (some cases), if spotter can pick up/place rocks while jumping over boulders. rigs w/ bfg krawlers outperformed others on the wet-muddy-rocks (mtr's and cooper's tire? and pro-comp x-terrains filled with mud and spun)
it will be interesting to see how park evolves for the non-comp customer. behind the rock quarry is timber where a trail appeared to be in works. they have been busy building comp courses.
some boulders are at least 14x14x14. this brought into perspective what size equipment and time is needed to set up a park. surfing your rig on a loose rock(s) down a boulder course may not be good.
Hannibal is a little closer than rockport and one could hit both parks if you have time since they are in same area somewhat.
