TRJC 4x4 Blast

Is anybody planning a trip to Pittsfield for the 4x4 Blast this year, Aug 11-12?
I finally got my CJ rolling again, and I haven't even had a chance to flex it up yet.
Here's the link to the Blast:

Let's get a good group going this year. It was, appropriately, a blast last year.

Brett,

I am going to the Blast and Jeff is planning on coming over from Springfield. You're right it is a great time. But, just a heads up for the undecided or those who prefer to procrastinate, the Safari (May event) was sold out for the first time in a few years. So if you want to wheel some great trails at a very well organized event, you should send your application in sooner rather than later.
Hopefully, Big Red will be trail ready by then.

Changes at RORP that will impact the Blast will be the loss of Tall Dog and Back 40. These were two fairly popular trails, and they will be lost...or at least I assume that if the park is lossing the trail that the new owner will not make them avaialble for TRJC events. But, one could hope that he would. So, this change will just put a little added pressure on the other trails but nothing that should be that bad. Try and fit it in your schedule. It is a great time.

I'm all for a run to the Badlands as well. I only have 3 weeks without classes this summer, all during the first 3 weeks of August. So I'm all about making the most of the time I have. Let me know your thinking about heading down, and if I can make my schedule work, I'm there!

Re: TRJC 4x4 Blast

Brett,

I did make it to the Blast. It was a great time as usual. Again, some disappointment for those of us with mud in our blood (it was too dry), but all in all a great time.
The May Safari was sold out. Over two hundred jeeps in total. The Blast was nearly deserted. I heard that there were 58 paying jeeps and 56 guides and worker jeeps. So, the trails were not crowded. We ran County Line on Friday and Jeff made a management decision that we were going to run Suzy's Knob on Saturday. What a trail. It is all of a 4 plus and if it would have been wet it would have been a 9. The latest group of trail guides on Suzy's have taken all of the original obstacles and added a few more. But the main change...improvement is that they built by passes for most of the obstacles. If you refer to previous writeups of Suzy's you will read that they had 5 jeeps backed up on the first waterfall and that it took all morning to get up it. Now one just has to observe a few of the big guys take a few runs and then opt for the bypass. (no easy climb either.). Anyway, it was a great trail. And Jeff and Big Red were the "little jeeps" that the women liked to watch becasue the big rigs could become boring. Anyway, a great time. Hopefully, I will get some pics soon. But, we need to do what we can to get to the Safari or the Blast and run Suzy's.

Sory you missed it. Are you going to MIOBI?

BTW, Red has his new legs. So, no broken axle safts this trip. I did manage to tweek a u joint, but it did not fail before the run was over. But, Red;s new legs do not follow the Grand. So no more flat towing. I need to find a trailer. But the good new is that Rona just bought a new Yukon that she says I can use on occasion to tow a trailer.

I will not make it to MIOBI. Anyone want to try and get to Attica before winter?

Will the MIOBI group have a toys for tots run? Any idea on when it may be?

And since this is already so long, Rob, your wheeels are in NL. I will be in Iowa this weekend if you want to pick them up. And if I am not around they are up by the shed. Just pick them up if you are still going to mount the Boggers.

Hope everyone has had a great summer.

I sure miss the trips to 600 acres.

Jim

I will not make it out to any wheeling areas this year. Now that I am not working and have returned to school for the next year funds will be tight and broken parts will not get fixed. So for now I will get the curb in the parking lot at Kirkwood

I am still looking for a set of cheap or free D-60s or the whole Ford that they are sitting under
 :trrowbrick:

Hope to see some of you Saturday
