March 15th and beyond

Tuesday March 15th David Meyer, Wendy Bulechek, Tim Bulechek, and myself went to Des Moines to talk with law makers about the DNR proposal at the 600 acres site. We feel we made some good head way with Rep. Freeman who is the head of the Natural Resources committee. She feels that there should be a public hearing held by the DNR about the proposal. We also talked with Rep. Paulsen, Rep. Foege, Rep. Dandekar and Iowa 4x4’s lobbyist Jim Obradovich with much success.
David and I also attended the Ely city council meeting on Monday night to let them know about the possibility of lost city revenues if the DNR proposal goes through.
We will be attending Ely and Solon council meetings in the near future as well as some Johnson County supervisors meetings.
David and I were invited to return to Des Moines on Wed March 23rd to participate in the Natural Resources committee meeting and go face to face with the DNR, at this point we both plan to attend.

What we need from you now:

Resources; We need a insurance expert, We could use some advice from an attorney, We need support from area businesses.

Letters; We need you to write to the Federal State Reps. Leach, Harkin ect. Explaining that we need them to put a stop to this on the corps of engineers level . We need you to write to the Governor telling him that we need a progressive DNR that will embrace an opportunity to bring in revenues to the state of Iowa and not push it under the rug by denying full size 4x4 recreation in the state. It would also be helpful to contact the Johnson County Supervisors.

Volunteers; We need you to help out, David and I can not do this alone. With fronts at city, county, state and federal levels it is consuming a lot of our time, we have worked around the clock on this to hopefully provide a place to operate our full size 4x4’s for years to come. David was up until 2am putting together the presentation for the state reps. and it was a great one. Thanks David!

HELP, HELP, HELP the more the better if you have ideas PLEASE share them, we will take all the advice we can get. Today when we arrived at the Statehouse we had no idea of how the process of talking to the lawmakers worked, but after a bit we had it figured out. I guess what I am saying is, do not be afraid of the unknown, you may be thinking that I would not be of any help to the group I don’t know anything about Government. I am here to tell you it is a learn as we go process, we will all learn and grow from this experience so throw down any fears you may have and lets get this done, not just for us but our kids, their kids and beyond!

Thank You

Re: March 15th and beyond

I just paid for my membership through payapl and I would like to help out in any way I can.

While I am no insurance "expert" I have been a commercial lines claims adjuster for 4 years and my wife has been a commercial lines account manager for a loooong time. I hate to give her props but she knows her stuff. So if there is anything you need give me a holler and if I don't know I have the resources to find out. My wife can do new policy quotes also, she is an independent agent.

I live in Des Moines and can be available for meetings where you need to show some numbers. I can get all of my wheeling buddies rallied too. One of them is a political science major who REALLY knows his stuff and loves to talk emoticonunch: with the DNR..
